Terry Thomas , Ph.D., Functional Genomics Lab Director, Department of Biology
Dr. Thomas is the director of the Functional Genomics Lab. He received his B.S. and Ph.D. in Molecular Genetics from the University of Georgia. Following post-doctoral work as a NIH and American Cancer Society Fellow with Dr. Eric Davidson at the California Institute of Technology, he joined the Department of Biology in 1983. Dr. Thomas is an expert in construction of cDNA libraries and the growing field of genomics, focusing his own research on cellular and molecular events during the development of both plants and animals. He has developed technologies for high throughput sequencing at Texas A&M and, in collaboration with Dr. John Mullet, has perfected high-density micro-array analyses for transcriptional profiling. The equipment and expertise for this endeavor is currently housed in the Thomas laboratory.

Mark J. Zoran , Ph.D., Real Time Imaging Lab Director, Associate Professor of Biology and Neuroscience, Department of Biology
The Director of the Real-time Imaging Lab is Dr. Mark Zoran. He has overseen the technical work done by the lab for the program projects and continues to provide consultation to the facility users regarding equipment use, experimental design, and data interpretation. Mark received his B.A. in Biology from Augustana College (Illinois), his M.S. in Biological Sciences from Illinois State University, and his Ph.D. in Zoology from Iowa State University. His post-doctoral research on synaptic development was performed in Dr. Phillip Haydon's laboratory at Iowa State, where he developed expertise in whole cell patch clamp techniques and real-time image analysis of ionic fluxes. He is currently an Associate Professor and Graduate Advisor in the Department of Biology.
