The Graduate Program in Biology

Basic biological research continues to lead the way for the other life sciences. Advances in medicine and agriculture are based on key discoveries generated by basic research. You can participate in the biological revolution by joining our graduate program at Texas A&M University.

The Department of Biology offers outstanding research opportunities in Behavioral Biology, Cell and Developmental Biology, Chronobiology, Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, Genetics and Genomics, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Neuroscience and Neurobiology, Physiology, Plant Sciences, and Systems Biology and Bioinformatics. The diverse interests of the Biology faculty foster interdisciplinary research and provide graduate students with a broad perspective on modern biological problems.

The Department of Biology grants degrees in four areas of the basic life sciences: Biology (Molecular and Cell Biology), Botany, Microbiology and Zoology. Our graduate programs primarily focus on the PhD.

Our graduate students conduct creative, independent research and scholarship. Graduates of our programs prepare themselves for a wide range of career opportunities and gain positions in academic institutions, government agencies, and industry.
