Graduate Student Support
We support our students financially
We support ALL of our students. As long as you remain in good standing with the department and graduate program, you will be fully supported until you finish your degree. This support is funded in a variety of ways and is provided in the form of research and teaching assistantships, fellowships and training grant appointments. Our current stipend is over $22,000 per year and tuition is paid. You do not have to specifically apply for these; we provide support to all admitted students. Considering the low cost of living in College Station, our students can live comfortably, avoid worrying about accumulating debt during graduate school and instead devote their energies to accomplishing world-class thesis research.
We support our students in all aspects of graduate life
Our graduate students are one of our most valuable resources. It is our faculty’s goal to provide the best graduate education possible while contributing to the advancement of leading-edge scientific knowledge. In the Department of Biology, you will aso find a large group of supportive and interactive graduate students who you can rely on for friendship, advice and scientific discourse.
Our department and university take pride in a culturally diverse environment congenial to GLBT faculty and students. We strive to accommodate students' family needs and life/work balance. The University provides high-quality, subsidized day care for children of students, as well as family housing. To be an Aggie means you are a part of the extended world-wide Aggie family, an honor you can claim the rest of your life.
