The symposium is sponsored
by a generous gift from
Dr. Eric Yong Xu ’93.

Dr. Timothy C. Hall (1937-2016) was a pioneer of plant molecular biology, plant transformation, and related biotechnology who joined the Texas A&M faculty in 1984 as a distinguished professor of biology and department head.  For more than 30 years, Dr. Hall served as an integral part of the Department of Biology, building a legacy of scientific and educational achievement.

In addition to sponsoring this year’s symposium, Dr. Xu established the Timothy C. Hall-Heep Foundation Distinguished Visiting Faculty Chair in Biology. More information about Dr. Hall’s legacy of research and mentorship can be found in the Department of Biology’s In Memoriam tribute.

We particularly encourage members of the Hall laboratory to participate in the symposium and Hall Lab reunion.  If you can attend, please contact Tom McKnight (mcknight@bio.tamu.edu) for details on special travel and lodging arrangements made possible by Dr. Xu’s generous support.
