Our Colleagues: We are one of two zebrafish labs who share a large animal facility, various equipment and other resources in the Biology Department. Our labs comprise a cohesive and interactive group of researchers. The other fish lab is headed by Dr. Arne Lekven. He studies Wnt signaling and axial patterning.
The Model System: The zebrafish system boasts an impressive toolkit for conducting forward and reverse genetics, gene misexpression, transgenics, and numerous cell biological approaches. Although zebrafish is a relatively young model system, there are now hundreds of zebrafish labs worldwide. The international zebrafish community is noted for its collegiality and cooperation.
