Dr. Daniel Paredes-Sabja Honored with Research Excellence Award

Texas A&M University Department of Biology is proud to honor Dr. Daniel Paredes-Sabja with the Research Excellence Award from the College of Arts and Sciences, recognizing his groundbreaking contributions to microbial pathogenesis and infectious disease research.
An internationally recognized expert, Dr. Paredes-Sabja has fundamentally advanced understanding of Clostridioides difficile and Clostridium perfringens, two major human pathogens. His lab’s discovery that C. difficile spores can enter host cells has reshaped how scientists approach infection and recurrence, paving the way for new vaccine strategies and diagnostics.
With over 110 peer-reviewed publications, an NIH R01 grant, and a high citation impact (h-index 46), Dr. Paredes-Sabja is a leading voice in the global research community. His work continues to transform the field of microbial disease and exemplifies the innovation and leadership recognized by this award.
