Dr. Wayne Versaw Honored with Excellence in Administrative Leadership Award

Texas A&M University Department of Biology proudly announces that Dr. Wayne Versaw has been awarded the Excellence in Administrative Leadership Award by the College of Arts and Sciences, recognizing his outstanding service, vision, and impact across academic administration.

For more than a decade, Dr. Versaw has played a vital leadership role at Texas A&M, currently serving as Associate Dean for Academic Initiatives. In this role, he oversees academic operations, interdisciplinary program development, enrollment planning, and student support services.

Previously, as Associate Head of Biology and Director of the Biomedical Sciences program, Dr. Versaw led major reforms, including restructuring introductory biology courses, championing open educational resources, and reducing DFQ rates by over 50%. He also secured more than $3 million in support to expand student access to internships and enriched curricula.

Widely respected for fostering collaboration, transparency, and student-centered innovation, Dr. Versaw exemplifies the highest standards of academic leadership at Texas A&M.
